Views from the North II: Recent Drawings from Cape Dorset
May 14 – Dec 31, 2015

Views from the North II: Recent Drawings from Cape Dorset features twenty-four recent drawings from Cape Dorset by Jutai Toonoo, Ningeokuluk Teevee, Nicotye Samayualie,Tim Pitsiulak, Qavavau Manomie, Olooreak Etungat, Shuvinai Ashoona, and Kudluajuq Ashoona.

The drawings in this exhibit range from the cheerful realism of Tim Pitsiulak's Untitled skidoo hauling a boat to the mysticism of Ningeokuluk Teevee's Lumaajuuq's Story and Lumaaq Taken to the Deep (both based on the legend of the blind boy and the loon) to the semi-abstraction of Jutai Toonoo's landscapes to the social commentary of Qavavau Manomie's Untitled seagull whose seaweed is fouled by human-generated debris and Shuvinai Ashoona's enigmaticUntitled drawing of the world surrounded by a halo of fish.
